What's new

v8.0 [Jan 1, 2016]
2016 January 1
Namaste friends,
Happy new year!
You may download Jagannatha Hora 8.0 at
http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/jh
This is the best and most accurate version of Jagannatha Hora ever. The year range of full version is expanded to 12899 BC to 16600 AD (previously 5399 BC to 5400 AD). Target precision of planetary calculations is improved to 0.001 arc-sec.
This also allows you to use some new calculations introduced in some of my researches published in the last couple of years, such as redefined Tithi Pravesha chart and re-defined lunar new year chart.
If you downloaded 7.61 or later and did not disable auto update, this should be automatically picked up when you start JHora next time (with internet turned on).
Best regards,
Narasimha

v7.51 [Feb 9, 2011]
Changes from 7.5 to 7.51:
(1) When SSS is selected as the siddhanta (planetary model) and some sunrise definitions are selected, JHora 7.5 freezes. This is fixed.
(2) In nakshatra dasas, an option is added to shift dasa lordships by any number of nakshatras. For example, one can start Vimsottari dasa from Ardra (instead of Krittika). Then Ardra (instead of Krittika) will give 6 years of Sun dasa, Punarvasu (instead of Rohini) will give 10 years Moon dasa, Pushyami (instead of Mrigasira) will give 7 years of Mars dasa, and so on. [This is recommended by "Lomasha Samhita" for some charts.]
(3) Vimsottari dasa can now be computed using complete anti-zodiacal reckoning (e.g. Rahu-centric theory).
(4) With the same calculation options, planetary longitudes with 7.5 were off from those with 7.4 by a few arc-sec. Values given by 7.4 were accurate and 7.5 drik siddhanta calculation of planets had a bug. This bug is fixed.
(5) Chara dasa, Yogardha dasa, Trikona dasa, Lagna Kendradi Rasi dasa and AK Kendradi Graha dasa can be calculated in divisional charts now.
(6) When SSS is selected (instead of drik siddhanta), no house division system other than "Equal house - 30 deg each" works in 7.5. It is fixed now and all house division systems will work. [The house system taught in a BPHS version saccording to Sri Vinay Jha is not included yet.]
(7) Option was added to the divisional chart calculation options to find divisional longitudes in D-30 by mapping each one degree in rasi to 30 degrees in D-30 or to map arcs (e.g. 5 deg or 8 deg arc) that go to the same sign in D-30 to 30 degrees *together* in D-30.
(8) Chandra Hari ayanamsa implementation is changed to place Shaula star (Lambda Scorpii) at 240 degrees of the sidereal zodiac. This changes ayanamsa by a few arc-seconds compared to JHora 7.5.
(9) When a midpoint was defined as the user defined special point, it was miscalculated in 7.5. It is fixed now.

v7.33 [Dec 6, 2008]
1) Jagannatha Hora uses "Swiss Ephemeris" as the planetary calculation engine. The Swiss Ephemeris DLL used by JHora was version 1.64.01 from *June 2002*. It is updated now to version 1.76 from "April 2009*. This brings in several bug-fixes and improvements made in Swiss Ephemeris since June 2002. A notable improvement occurred in version 1.70, where they improved the calculation algorithms to satisfy the latest IAU recommendations. They made the precession model more accurate among other things. For modern dates, this improvement in accuracy makes a difference of a less than a fraction of arc-sec. In fact, for dates after 1000 BC, the difference is less than 1 arc-sec. So it does not matter much. However, for really old dates (e.g. Krishna's chart), this can make a difference of several arc-min in some planets (especially Moon), which can change some divisional charts sometimes. In addition to this improvement in accuracy, several minor bugs, including some in eclipse times, were also fixed.
(2) Weekday and kaala bala of shadbala were miscalculated in old versions of JHora for dates older than 1830 AD. This is fixed now.
(3) In computing SAV, there is an option now to add eight ashtakavargas instead of seven.
(4) Varjya and durmuhurta are added in panchanga. A portion is each nakshatra is marked as varjya (avoidable) and a portion of each weekday is marked as durmuhurta (bad time) and they are avoided traditionally in muhurtas.
(5) Panchanga calculations erroneously showed asterisk on several times sometimes. It is fixed and panchanga page is accurate now.
(6) Vimsottari dasa based on divisional longitudes is fixed.
(7) Ketu's nakshatra transit in mundane tab is fixed now.
(8) Saturn/Ketu exception is restored in antardasas of old style SJC drigdasa. This was erroneously removed when Parasara's drigdasa was added.
There are several other minor bug-fixes and improvements.
